Authenticity and respect for nature are part of Pink Tartan’s core values. The fur used in our finished products is derived primarily from local hunting and trapping. Pink Tartan ensures that all of our providers possess a government-issued permit and that their practices adhere to the strictest standards, laws and regulations. When necessary, we occasionally acquire furs through reputable auction houses, such as the NAFA (North American Fur Auction). 

Pink Tartan firmly believes in animal welfare and supports the Fur Institute of Canada: “The Fur Institute of Canada is the country’s lead expert on humane trap research and furbearer conservation and is the official trap-testing agency for the Government of Canada and all provincial/territorial governments. The FIC manages Canada’s humane trap research and testing program through the Alberta Research Centre and in accordance with the Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards within Canada.”*

We are committed to environmental protection and the use of sustainable materials. The fur we use includes re-purposed fur, recycled fur and byproducts from food production.
